Apacer SDHC flash memory card

The Apacer SDHC 16GB flash card is a good example of the Apacer range of SDHC flash memory cards.

Speed

The card is speed class 6, a 6 megabyte per second write speed. The largest images from my camera are 14 MB and take a little over 2 seconds to write. The Apacer SDHC range includes a 32 GB card but the 32 GB card is only class 4 and would require nearly 4 seconds to write an image, a good reason to stick with the 16 GB card.

As a comparison, Sandisk have a 16 GB SDHC Ultra card with a write speed of 15 MB/second, 2.5 times faster than class 6 and costing only 25% more than the Apacer 32 GB class 4 card. If your camera can write faster than class 6, you will save time.

Sandisk also have a 32 GB SDHC Ultra card with a write speed of 15 MB/second, 2.5 times faster than class 6 and costing little more than the Apacer 32 GB class 4 card. If your camera can write faster than class 6 and handle 32 GB, you will save time and get extra capacity.

Sandisk also have a 32 GB SDHC Extreme card with a write speed of 30 MB/second, 5 times faster than class 6 but costing four times as much plus very few cameras can write images that fast. You would save time only when reading the images into your computer and only when using a reader that can handle the higher speed. If you also use your SDHC cards for transferring data from computer to computer or backing up your images from a computer, the time saving will be worth the extra cost.
