Android phones outsell iPhone

Android is Linux plus an open source compiler that accepts Java code and produces real programs. The efficient flexible Android outsells the Apple iPhone. The Android now outsells all other smartphones combined and that is with only half the models in the shops. The Android market is set to boom.

iPhone was on the market for a long time and still has greater total sales than Android but Android is now selling faster and only half of the phone manufacturers have converted to Android with the other half due later this year.

Smartphones make up only a small percentage of all mobile phone sales, partly because of high prices, incompatibility, and the fact they they make second rate phones.

You cannot talk easily on a smart phone because smart phones do not bend to match the shape of your face like a flip phone. HTC started producing smart phones many years ago and a lot of smart phone users went back to flip phones because of the lack of clarity if you did not TALK VERY LOUD.

Eventually Apple produced a cheap clone of one HTC smart phone, charged twice as much, and sold twenty million of the iPhones as glorified replacements for iPods, iPods with a built in phone. The iPhone lacked FM, lacked SD, and everything else, but to an iPod carrier, it added a phone. After four major redesigns the iPhone still does not have all the features of that ancient HTC phone but it does have a noise cancelling microphone in an attempt to make it usable as a phone.

The HTC smart phone sold as the Google Android has noise cancelling and an AMOLED screen, something Apple will not use on their iPhone because they might reduce their massive rip off profits by a few cents. The HTC Google branded Android phone is also available without the Google brand, at the HTC Desire, but has the noise cancelling microphone reduced to create an artificial difference for marketing purposes only. In most places the difference makes no difference but in Australia the HTC Desire is sold through one brand of shop and the HTC Google branded equivalent is sold through a different chain of shops for a rip off price.

This criminally insane disparity that effectively makes a noise cancelling microphone cost AU$600 will come to an end soon. Several brands of phone already use AMOLED screens and Android. More than twice the current number of major phone brands are switching to Android. By the end of 2011, Apple, with their iPhone branded phones from FIC, and RIM, with their Blackberry branded phones, will be the only brands not using Android for their major lines of smart phones.

Android is almost entirely open source, making it cheap to implement and free of the stupid licensing restrictions that make most other software for computer based machines a pain in the neck. Android is at the early stages of development and already beats the old Apple line of software used on iPhones. Collectively, the announced range of companies committed to Android have many times more cash than Apple or RIM, giving Android a secure long term future.

Android phones have fewer applications than iPhones but on day one of Android availability, Android had more applications available than Apple had after a year. Android is gaining applications far faster than Apple did at the same stage of availability. The HTC Desire and Google branded Android smart phones are sold out in most shops while the same shops have shelves piled high with iPhones they have difficulty selling.

Android has overwhelmed all the alternatives for smart phones and is helping drive people from regular phones to smart phones. The fashion victims will stick to the iPhone while the real market, the big time, will shift from Blackberries and Treos to Androids.
